Pie Mates Australian Bakehouse

Just a fantastic pie that easy to eat. Crispy on the outside with juicy filled goodness. Found this Australia mate at the Des Moines Farmers Market on Saturday. Great service with many pies to choose from. I enjoyed number 10 BBQ and Spicy jalapeño.

These guys are growing like wildfire! I’ve been following their journey since they first started a few years back—everywhere from farmers markets to, most recently, the event in Indy—and they never disappoint. I often grab some of their frozen ones to take home, add a couple of sides, and dinner is ready in no time. I’m so glad we have such a unique, high-quality, and great-tasting food option here in Des Moines. It’s a refreshing change from the bland, over-processed foods that are so common around here!

Wish I could give Pie Mates more than 5 stars! We discovered them at the DSM Farmers Market and we so excited to know they have a brick & mortar shop too! Their pies were tasty, fresh and full of filling! Truly great pies & can’t wait to get our next fix!

Pie Mates absolutely nails it. The crust is flaky and buttery, and the fillings are packed with flavor — you can tell they care about what they’re making. It’s not just good food, it’s comfort food done right. The staff is super friendly and made me feel right at home. Definitely coming back… might be a little obsessed now!
