Stopped by Pho Viet and tried the Mi Quang and Goi Vit (duck salad). The Mi Quang was comforting, with plenty of herbs and a pleasant broth, though the flavor could have been a bit bolder. The duck salad was fine but fairly simple, with lightly flavored duck and a large portion of greens. Overall, a simple and comforting meal - I’m glad I gave it a try.
Imagine coming into a restaurant after a long week and being greeted with kindness, care, and hospitality. Pho Viet is more than a place to eat — you will feel at home, with ambiance that recalls your family’s living room. I highly recommend this cultural gem rooted in the heart of Uptown, Chicago. The meals are made with love and rich in flavor. The owner and staff are incredible.
I came here on a summer day when it was particularly hot and humid. The restaurant smelled dank. I thought maybe the A/C or exhaust was broken. Then the waiters came out. Not sure if they still work there now but they did not smell good. They are of a certain ethnicity which is different from the cuisine. I feel really bad to say that it gives me poor hygiene vibes. I did place my order nonetheless, for takeout. I had to leave the place because it smelled like dirty laundry. I did comeback to pick up the order. This maybe gross but I still ate the food and was still delicious. I’d be wary to go back again. The lady owner (I suspect) was very friendly. I wish the place cleanliness would be better.
i don’t typically write reviews, but this is one of the best restaurant experiences i’ve had in a while. the food was absolutely delicious - i got the special soup with duck - that absolutely hit the spot. but, even better than the food was the SERVICE! the young girl that was our server + the older woman who came to check on us and make conversation were incredibly kind, helpful, and fun. they welcomed us back and just generally made the atmosphere (which was already lovely) so much more cozy and comfortable. i don’t live close by, otherwise i would be going all the time, but i do plan to come back! thank you guys!
The service is terrible only 3 tables and myself waited 15 min to get served by owner. The spring rolls were not good at all duck roll was put together like a mess. The pho was good in flavor and meat but literally only gave me half meatball. It seems they are always cutting corners i won’t ever go back thank you.
