Pho Tay Ho

First time trying Vietnamese food and this place was phenomenal! Family owned and run, small, simple, intimate, and extremely tasty food. Our appetizer and meals came out quickly and it was hot and delicious. The pho was flavorful, earthy, and rich - great first impression of this country’s famous dish! Turns out this place is super understaffed and the owner (the grandma) is getting older and sometimes has health issues, causing her to close early and have unpredictable hours. We came in around 6:20 one night and watch them turn off the open sign around 7:15, because that’s when they ran out of pho for the day - love it! The grandma even came out from the kitchen and filled our waters and greeted us - even walked us to the front register to pay. Will be coming back here!

While I was recovering from my kidney transplant, my ICU nurse and I were talking about pho. I told him I wanted to find the best bowl in town. Nick asked his friend which pho house is the best in SLC. Pho Tay Ho was suggested so today we tried it out. The venue is quite interesting. It's in an old house which is cool. There's quite a few tables and can hold quite a few guests. We did arrive a little after 5. It was starting to get busy after we placed our order. I'm happy we got there when we did. They are very very very short staffed. You get your own utensils. Everything is brought all at once said a notice on the fridge. You actually write your own order down on the ordering pad. They don't really check up on you. So, service is not to be expected. They drop your food off and

Pho Tay Ho is an unpretentious family-owned, family-run restaurant with amazing home-cooked Vietnamese food at equally amazing low prices. The bowl of pho I had there this evening is one of the best I've ever had, rivaling the home-cooked pho my Vietnamese friends who introduced me to their nation's cuisine in the mid-1970s used to make. I chose beef flank and steak, and asked for a small bowl and not a large one.The size was just right, and I loved that the accompaniments included not just slices of lime, jalapeńo, bean sprouts, and basil, but the bowl itself had cilantro and thinly sliced onion in it. It was superlative, with a rich, well-made broth. We could see the elderly lady who does the cooking in the kitchen. The egg rolls were equally wonderful and very obviously made in house. T

The shop is located in a small home turned noodle shop. Having an "at home" vibe. The women running the shop make the service quick as possible while allowing you a moment to process where you're at. Cutlery was self service. Food is authentic in a way that can only be made by the people working there. Toppings were generous but easy to eat and enjoy (nothing was chewy or tough). We enjoyed a iced lime tea which was absolutely refreshing during the unusually warm Utah winter. Overall this place is a must for those who are familiar with Vietnamese food and enjoy it. You will not miss your money when finishing a meal here.

It is the BEST pho in the area!! The broth is amazing and all food is cooked with love. Pls try it!!!
