Pho Saigon Noodle House

On a cold, rainy day, Pho Saigon Noodle House hit every spot I didn’t even know needed hitting. From the moment I walked in, the aroma of fresh herbs and simmering broth felt like a hug waiting to happen. The pho came out piping hot, crystal-clear, and full of depth — the kind of broth you can tell has been simmered with real care. The slices of chicken were tender, the noodles perfectly cooked, and the fresh basil, bean sprouts, and lime on the side added that bright, refreshing balance. I ordered the vegetarian summer rolls with peanut dipping sauce, and they were amazing. Fresh, crisp, and packed with flavor — the peanut sauce took them to a whole new level. Let me start by saying that I consider myself a pho enthusiast. At one point I ate pho nearly every day for an entire year and have even learned to make authentic pho at home. With that said, this was hands down one of the worst pho experiences I’ve ever had. The broth was a pale yellow transparent color, it had an unpleasant oily sweetness that completely overpowered the dish. I tried to balance it out with Sriracha, soy sauce, and limes, but nothing helped. Even worse, the noodles themselves seemed to be infused with the same overly sweet flavor, making the entire bowl nearly inedible. The summer rolls were equally disappointing—bland and poorly assembled. To top it off, the service left much to be desired. I ordered two large plain noodle pho’s, summer rolls, and two glasses of water.

We were really craving a great Vietnamese Iced Coffee and Pho Saigon Noodle House has it! Very strong coffee with sweetened condensed milk- definitely a special morning treat, but they nailed it. Doors open at 10:30 am, and it only took a few minutes for our drinks to be made. We can’t wait to go back!

After having overall favorable experiences here, this evening I experienced the worst service. After we seated ourselves (because the hostess didn't), we were hastedly given our menus by the hostess, which we casually dismissed. We were then waited on by the hostess after another family although we were there well before which she was completely aware of. My daughter's drink was forgotten-- when I checked on it, I was given the excuse they only had one blender, however my son's specialty drink arrived and I never received my drink. After I politely pointed these concerns out to the young female host/cashier, she gave excuse after excuse after excuse. I have been coming to Saigon Noodle House for about 7 ish years now and they consistently have amazing food. My favorite dishes there are the Beef and Basil (it is my favorite) you will never find beef and basil like this anywhere else. The lemongrass chicken is delicious and their pho is unmatched. I am from out of state and any time I am in dc or surrounding areas I have to make a side quest to come here.
