Philmont Scout Ranch Dining Hall

Look this place is not fancy. Easy food to eat. Salad bar options. They do great service and organization. It is a nicer cafeteria than other scout camps. Nothing fancy but will give you enough food to get you ready for the trail. Our boys were alittle fussy at first but found options to eat.

All I'm saying is that the hash brown patty was more like a drink coaster and the eggs where green, but philmont is a great experience the trail food is better than the dining hall don't go for the food.

Anything tastes good coming off the trail, but the staff is excellent! I would recommend changing the menu a little so Crews aren't eating things coming off the trail that they ate before they left.

Of course, at any summer camp the food isnt always up to par, but the dining room itself provides an excellent place to chow down and hang with fellow crew members. I love the piano that any scout can play whenever, it gives an old western vibe.

Considering how many meals this place makes every day and the low budget they have to operate with, this place makes very good food. Filling and hits the spot. I used to work there in '81, '83 and '84. Good times.
