Penny's Restaurant

I have written close to 1000 reviews on Google and this restaurant is by far the best one, and it's not even close. The prices are great, the food is so good, and the atmosphere is simple and nostalgic. Oakboro reminds me of Mayberry with it charm and small town vibes. Penny's send the standard for eating establishments in this area and surrounding areas. I had the brisket sandwich...it was maybe the best sandwich I have devoured at any restaurant. Everything was hot and fresh coming out. My kids finished every bit of food in front of them, which is usually a struggle. The staff is so nice here. I literally cannot say enough things about Penny's. Give this place a try and I know you won't regret it!

Best burger in stanly county. I’ve been here several times and it’s always so so good. The pimento cheeseburger is fantastic. The double is when you just need to be in coma for the weekend. Tots are crispy and delicious. The new brisket sandwich is top notch. Plenty on the menu to try even for picky eaters. Grab a tea and enjoy some really good food.

We love Penny’s, however, the last few months every order we’ve placed has been missing something. And tonight, we were missing half of our order when it arrived. Not to mention, the chicken in the 2 piece tender combo looked like it was just the skin of the chicken, no meat in sight. $70 for food is quite a bit, especially when you never get your entire order.

We ordered take out tonight and it was SO good. My husband ordered the cowboy burger and said it is the best burger he’s ever had from a restaurant. A true gem in Oakboro!

Everything was awesome! The food was reasonably priced, despite the crowd we didn’t wait long, the service was friendly and the food was great! Try the patty melt & loaded fries; you won’t regret it! The other picture is a steak sub and it’s fantastic as well - even if my husband didn’t share a bite!
