Penny's Diner

This is one of the coolest diners we’ve been to (and we aren’t in NJ)! Breakfast (brunch for us) was great, the decor is fun with lots of tin signs and they played 50s tunes on the stereo! Our waitress was super friendly and we left full and happy!

Loved it! Quick place to stop on the road for a short break, and great food! I haven't gotten a burger that good put in a long time. Onion rings also excellent. My husband said the coffee was good, too, as well as his French dip and fries. They do have online menus. Sit wherever you want when you enter and scan the QR code to see what they have. Then, the waitress will take your order, bring you the check, and you pay at the register. Everyone was friendly and helpful, so concerns about the food or staff didn't fit my visit. It was all great. Also, very budget friendly!

11/23/2025: Popped in around midnight on a Sunday. Empty. We were the only two there. Waitress was friendly and service was prompt. Breakfast was exactly what we were looking for.

I don't have an opinion on the food. I gave mine to my dog. My husband food probably would have been better if he had a fork. What's a knife without a fork. The service was HORRIBLE!!! We had to ask for everything that is accustomed to dining at any restaurant. Service, napkins, silverware, and just simple acknowledgment. The manager came by the other tables and asked them how everything was, but we weren't offered that same courtesy. My thoughts were that this was racially motivated because we are a biracial couple (I'm black and my husband is white), and he got treated a little better then myself while I got ignored and overlooked. This place was amazing! We stopped by on our road trip returning from Burning Man to New York. Decor and music was super cute, waitress Jenny was super friendly and sweet, and most importantly, the food was fresh and delicious. I can’t imagine anyone giving this spot less than 5 stars!
