The worst customer service experience I’ve ever had dealing with an online book vendor, which I do a lot of. The issue has to do with my receiving a damaged book on an online order from PSU Press. I contacted customer service via email with photos of the damaged book to get it replaced. This is standard practice. I order from university presses and other online publishers often and it’s not uncommon to receive damaged books. Usually they are very accommodating. PSU CS responded in a strange short tone saying (verbatim) “we don’t see a damaged book”. What does that mean?? The markings on the book are clearly visible. I follow up with more photos, this time close-ups with the damage indicated with circling and arrows. In their response to my second email it comes out that it’s not that
