Penang is one of my favorite restaurants to eat in China town in Philly. This place gets busy during peak times and typically a wait time. This is in city so parking is going to be challenging but there are lot of paid parking lots closer by. The interior is good and maintained well. I ordered Roti canai with Chicken sauce and also vegetable sauce. The Roti very thin flaky bread and that goes with that Coconut curry style chicken sauce. I can easily go for more than 3 Roti canai's on a good day .lol... Then ordered Roti Telur which is the stuffed with onions and egg between the Rotis and good for sharing I wouldnt recommend it for individual meal. This also comes with chicken or veggie sauce. We ordered their classic Curry chicken with bone and this time it was too much turmeric but typi
I’ve been here a few times, and whenever I’m craving Malaysian food, this is my go to spot in the city. I always order the roti canai, it’s a must. The satay is pretty good too, though I usually only get it when I’m with friends since the mixed satay platter is perfect for a group of three. The curry dish was flavorful but could use a bit more spice in my opinion. The menu is available via the QR code on the table, they accept cards but you can get a small discount if you pay in cash.
The worst dining experience I ever have, I order shrimp pad that and I only have tofu on the top , so I asked the server : “ I ordered shrimp pad thai? “ that is literally exactly what I said the server did not try to explain at all, he looked at me very irritated just replying “ that is shrimp” period nothing else I have to dig the plate in front of him to find shrimp I mean I am here just to enjoying my Sunday lunch, if customer has questions the staff just simply explain why felt offended, and the whole server group keep looking at our table, first time in my lifetime I felt insulted when dining out. The whole time no water refilled, no asked how the meal, literally put down the food and left not to mention no rice come with curry, pad thai noodle was all disconnect, I missed the old P
nasi lemak is good; they have a pickled veggie that has a peanut flavor that is super good. The meat in the dish is beef rendang I believe. Chicken over rice is my go to! Lots of meat, taste delicious, and affordable. Satay is good but the meat was kinda burnt.
Went here with friends after being recommended this place and absolutely loved it. The prices were reasonable and they had a wide variety of Malaysian cuisine selection. As a Malaysian American myself, I thought the food was very authentic and flavorful and the staff was very nice to a large party. Definitely check this place out in Chinatown in Philadelphia!
