I’ve had Pelicana in Queens, and the honey garlic here was soggy and overly salty. It’s supposed to be crispy with light layer of sauce + glazed honey. It was DRENCHED. It tasted so unappetizing that we couldn’t finish the rest. Wasted $20 on it. Yellow cheese was good as expected, since it’s a dry seasoning they sprinkle on.
Interesting spot in a small chain. Overall the food was pretty good. The friend cheese dough balls were more like dessert - thing buttercream filled donut holes, but mostly warm buttercream. Wings and chicken were good, flavorful and tasty eats. But the fries with melted cheese, despite asking about it, is actually just generic cheese sauce, and NOT acrual melted cheese...which gets to my criticism: Service was poor. Our server clearly was either misinformed or just not paying attention/caring about his job and the kitchen wasn't on the same page either. The food came out randomly. Two dinners, but they came in 3 separate 'deliveries' spaced 5-10m apart. I got my fries, 5m later, my dinner, my partner got their dinner 10m after that. It made for an unpleasant eating experience eve
I stopped in for a quick meal after noticing they had a full Korean menu, and I’d been craving Korean food since moving to the city. I ordered the lunch box with bulgogi and Korean side dishes, along with their new black iced tea with mango purée (made with real fruit!)—my favorite part of the meal. Everything was fresh and delicious, and I’m so glad I came here. The owner was incredibly warm, welcoming (and gorgeous!!), which made the experience even better. The atmosphere is cozy and charming, and overall, I couldn’t have asked for a nicer spot to enjoy authentic flavors. Highly recommend!
The chicken is so crispy it should come with a noise complaint warning. I ordered the Half & Half because I have commitment issues, and the Signature Sweet & Spicy sauce is the perfect level of 'I’m sweating a little, but I’m okay with it'. Everything is made fresh, so don't expect it in five minutes. Use that time to mentally prepare for the 'crunch heard 'round the world'.
I keep coming back to this place and it’s always great. Chicken is super crispy and the non fried chicken Korean food is also fantastic. Portions are good and it comes out fast. Easy go to spot in Greenpoint.
