Passage to India

This place is really a good steal. We went here for dinner, and the owner, I believe an elderly lady, was extremely kind to us. They were running some specials for Holi with an additional menu, and even though it was a few days past Holi, she let us choose from that. The food took some time, but it was all served piping hot, and the taste was excellent. They also have a bakery attached to it, and the pastries were also good, and we did have some takeout. Overall would definitely recommend this restaurant in Mountain View.

Craving authentic Indian cuisine, I visited this spot and was delighted by the rich flavors. The chicken tikka masala was perfectly spiced, and the garlic naan was warm and fluffy. Service was attentive, enhancing the dining experience. The ambiance was cozy, though the decor felt a bit dated. Overall, a satisfying meal that left me eager to return.

After 33 years, Passage to India in Mountain View remains an absolute "old gem" in the South Bay, a culinary landmark cherished for its delectable Indian bakery items and, more recently, an expansive and incredibly delicious buffet priced at an astonishing $18.99. Stepping into Passage to India for their buffet is an experience in itself, starting with the vibrant chaat corner. Here, you'll find an unlimited supply of freshly prepared golgappas and papdi chaat, perfectly complemented by what might just be the best mint water you'll ever taste. The main course spread is a testament to the kitchen's mastery, offering a wide array of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. We went there by accident as we just wanted to eat pani puri. We were not only surprised by the $15 early bird dinner before 6:30pm, but also by the amazing taste (compliment and a review coming from a picky eater like me is ... 😊). The menu was very extensive - pani puri stand, vegetarian, non-veg varieties, on-demand (mini-veg pizza, pav bhaji, naans) desserts (including Jilebi) and chai. Finally, the staff was very nice and went above and beyond! The only negative are the medium dining area and small parking. If you are going for food, not for looks etc; this is a rare gem.
