Thanks to the City of Palm Desert, our library has turned into a palace of learning and community resources. Just to name a few things you will find in this palace: books (of course), computers, games, Legos, music, author talks, mahjong, a diverse group of people, friendly and helpful staff, lectures, demonstrations, lessons, poetry and book clubs, a garden club, tech assistance, anime, writer's workshop, info about Palm Desert, Chilean canasta,a Pokemon League,a guitar league, scrapbooking, and films. And there's probably a lot more. You can even join the mayor for coffee. Why don't more people go to the library? It has been said that is because it's FREE! Like Jesus who offers us all the FREE gift of salvation, and some people pass that up too. Anyway check out the library hours, and e
Just like the Central Desert Community itself, the facility is very well kept and the grounds exhibit scant litter over the course of my visits across several weeks. The staff is flawlessly effective and the Tech Dept is quick to resolve any hiccups. Within the facility is also Travelers Desk that is, well, similar to a tourist Welcome Center one would find upon crossing over a state boundary. It's truly helpful for folks visiting or looking to relocate to the Central Community.
It was so fun! There was a magician, candy, face painting, and coloring and games! There were a lot of people, little kids were dressed up too!
This review is for the location near College of the Desert, future proofing by saying that as staff told me they plan on moving buildings in the next 3 years. This location had a remodel that removed most of the comfortable seating and replaced it with chintzy, bright colored plastic furniture. The color scheme is way too bright and takes away from an environment where the focus is on *reading*. I miss the old, more neutral color scheme. Not as good of a location for studying anymore. Staff are very friendly and attentive.
It's hard to study in the study room, actually we can't literally study there. The standing divider doesn't help with noise coming from the other side of the room. I wish they can build a real wall so other people can concentrate and not get distracted by others. And they should open the other part of the library too. We need more study rooms!
