if you like hot pot, you have to try palace tang at least once. the ingredients (meat, vegs) are fresh and tasty and the broth we get (Chongqing mild + medium, Golden Pot, Three Delicacies) are excellent (always!). The service is excellent, fast and very very friendly. The wait time never exceeded 20 min even in rush hour. I have gone in parties of 2 to 7 and never changed my opinions. I have visited this place many times every month since 2023, I have never regretted spending my money at palace tang. it’s one of my favorite restaurants in a2. My go-to sauce option: sesame or peanut paste, sesame oil and seeds, little bean curd, a lot of g onions and cilantro, a bit sugar and garlic. My recs on what to get: the plum juice!! start with 2 land proteins (lamb, beef) 1 sea protein (fish fillet
The food is delicious! So fresh so good! I recommend soup dumplings it’s so juicy it’s the best dumplings I’ve had in Michigan plz come and try. Shrimp dumplings are so good, it has whole shrimp inside you won’t regret getting them. And what surprised me is that everything is handmade.
Was craving hotpot and palace tang didn’t disappoint! Good broth variety, just wish they had a bit more flavor in them! My favorites were tomato and golden soup (top right & bottom left). Toppings were good quality. Each item pricing is pretty fair, ranging from $5-$20. The crab and pork soup dumplings were surprisingly great too! I would come back!
The overall food quality is good, especially the Angus beef. However, the shrimp paste we ordered was disappointing—it was dry and lacked any flavor. The place is definitely overpriced; between my wife, my daughter, and me, we spent $150 before tips. My biggest gripe, though, is the service—or rather, the lack of it. Our server had an attitude and acted as if he’d just missed the Powerball by a single number and had to cut himself in a corner for 13 mins. He never came back to check on us or clear empty plates after our food was served.
Very modern and I'm glad there's a hot pot place in Ann Arbor, but it was very confusing for my first time because no one asked if we needed help with anything or if we were familiar with how things worked. I'm new to getting hot pot at a restaurant and it was very intimidating. When people came to deliver what we ordered only one person even said anything. They were friendly when I asked for help, but that was after a long time. So I would come back, but I hope they work on at least giving a first time intro to how things work. Would recommend the golden broth for sure.
