Pleasantly surprised by this restaurant! The staff was very attentive, and our server took the time to beautifully explain the drinks, dishes, and his recommendations. We went with what he suggested and it did not disappoint. I ordered the pomegranate margarita—absolutely perfect. The food was delicious. We had the guacamole, enchiladas, and tacos (sudadero and fish), and everything was full of flavor. The sauces were on point and tasted very authentic. My husband is Mexican and he approves… lol. We make it a point to visit Hudson Yards often because we love the Mercado vibe. With the addition of Oyamel, we now have the perfect place to kick things off. Vibe is casual, but the service is 5-star. A definite must if you’re in the area!
Food is ok. Small portions and pricey. You can find better Mexican restaurants around the area. Not sure if the meatballs supposed to be hot. Was room temperature and look like they just pour the sauce on top, the ceviche good flavor but very hard to find the scallops on it. We actually was planning to go to Spanish restaurant that used to be there and now is a Mexican Restaurant.
Overall I enjoyed this restaurant with friends last night . Excellent service and the food is beautifully presented and delicious . Only negatives for me : expensive for shared dishes as they are very small. At $65 the lamb was delicious but a single shank so only a mouthful of lamb each for 4. Also the overhead heating way too hot on my head and I hated going all the way to adjoining foodhallfor restroom. Excellent margaritas and fun atmosphere . The server brought us complimentary churros!
This is difficult to review because I’m more of a street taco, grease dripping down my elbow, sit on a plastic stool type of Mexican food guy. I’ve had plenty of fine dining Mexican food too, which I’ve loved. This place though, while all the food was good, nothing particularly stood out to me. Everything was executed well, amazing textures and plating. But iono man… I was not feeling inspired by any of the flavors.
Ceviche price for the portion was a joke though it tastes good; good sauce. Guac was ok. Salty chips were good. Salsa very good. All tacos very good and for $7 each. Tuna tostadas tasted good but a tad overpriced. All dishes were over salted. Drinks were too strong. Excellent service and nice atmo
