Osusume Fumio

been going to kogane for years and have always loved chef fumi’s nigiri omakase as soon as chef roe told me chef fumi left to open osusume fumio i made a reservation immediately! walking in and being greeted by natsuko and chef fumi’s smiles felt so nostalgic the vibe is warm, conversational, and intimate; chef fumi’s nigiri pairings are absolutely impeccable; perfect balance every single bite, my favorite this time was the anago honestly i think they’re undercharging for this experience; even after the 15 courses we ordered the uni hand roll and chutoro as encore bites and they were both GASS despite being full especially considering the price, highly recommend trying this place out!!! (parking is also quite easy since it’s the atwater village for anyone concerned about LA parking)

high quality fish, delicious omakase, and the best part of the meal is talking to fumi-san and natsuko-san. make sure to ask fumi-san for a dad joke! can’t wait to come back here again.

Fumi-san is my favorite sushi chef in Los Angeles. The quality of his ingredients is always top-notch, and his rice is truly exceptional (even better than what I’ve had in Japan) Not only does he make amazing food, but he also has a great sense of humor that makes his guests feel truly entertained. I’m so happy that he recently opened his own restaurant.

Chef Fumio just opened his new restaurant, continuing his pursuit of nigiri perfection and he’s hit the ground running. The space is intimate yet relaxed, and without a doubt serves the best nigiri to grace Atwater Village. Everyone at our table drove over an hour just to experience the chef’s creations and it was absolutely worth it.
