Growing up on the Olsen brand of herring, I've always rushed to get my pickled herring every holiday season! I have noticed a decline over the past couple of years and the Herring has NOT been good. Usually in grocery stores, it's packed in plastic containers and has been so disappointing! Each year, I reluctantly purchase, with hesitancy. I shouldn't feel this way! Trying to recapture my childhood, for a good piece of Herring, has been very disappointing! The Herring isn't firm, like it use to be.! It tastes soft and "fishy"! Yes, Herring is fish, but good quality fish, shouldn't smell or taste fishy! Stopping in at a local gas station, in Oslo, MN, I came upon Olsens "Extra Sweet Pickled Herring, which was packed in a glass jar! Olsen's name was on it, but it was packed for Tiegens Sto

We stopped here on December 24th looking for fresh lutefisk and were pleased to find we could buy a 5lb filet. The lutefisk was amazing I was told and in the future we will be sure to call ahead and place the order. The manager was running back and forth with several options before we decided to just buy the 5lb filet. I can say I was amazed, they cooked it in the oven and when I returned that evening I could hardly smell anything other than the usual air fresheners we have in the house. So thanks again for helping keep a Christmas tradition alive and hope the girls hockey team does great.

These hearing cutlets at Olsen fish company in Minneapolis Minnesota is fantastic. The herring they sell at coborn's that brand that's been around forever they changed it. it is gross.

This used to be awesome picked herring. I bought a 16 oz container to enjoy over the holidays. Nothing but tiny, skinny pieces of fish. Its HORRIBLE! Very little meat, lots of nasty skin. I'm very disappointed!!!
