Stopped in for dinner while in town for work. Sat at the bar upstairs. The bartenders are extremely pleasant and chatty. I ordered the burrata salad and the bolognese. Both were excellent. Unfortunately I didn’t have any ability to eat dessert though the dessert menu looked great. On a Wednesday night the restaurant was pretty empty, and oddly a couple and another single person crammed in at the bar with me instead of selecting one of the many available tables.
Early evening Sunday Family style dinner menu was amazing! The pot roast was my favorite. Definitely worth the trip.
If you’re visiting DC and someone suggests Oficina for its “Italian food with a view of the Potomac,” go in with the right expectations. While technically located on the Wharf, it’s more at the far end — so the water views are limited. That said, the atmosphere is stylish and comfortable, with an upscale steakhouse vibe that can suit any mood, from date night to business dinner. The food was much better than it looked on the plate — flavorful, balanced, and thoughtfully prepared. I only wished the menu offered a bit more variety. The service was excellent; our server was attentive without hovering, and although the restaurant was busy, it felt like we had the place to ourselves thanks to the spacious layout. One small hiccup: we didn’t realize bread was served until we saw another table
If you are visiting DC and you are asked to select a location with a view of the Potomac and you hear the word "Italian food" and immediately think of healthy portions and a view of the Wharf. Remember this location is a book end on the Wharf (water views are limited). The food is tastier than it appears on the plate and the drinks are okay. Prices and service is standard. The atmosphere can accommodate any comfort level. The theme is an upscale steakhouse. Parking could be a beast. I would suggest prior reservations. There is an elevator.
Visited during the end of cherry blossom season. It was absolutely beautiful. It was not warm enough for the upper floor to be fully opened, but all the firepots were lit, and you could easily move inside and out. The food was very good and elevated the experience. It's rare that you get a perfect mixture of ambiance, great service, and excellent food. I will definitely be back.
