Oax-Mex Taqueria

I stopped by Oax Mex Taqueria about a month ago and ordered their Wet Steak Burrito, and it was hands-down one of the most authentic and satisfying burritos I’ve had anywhere around Monroe. What really sets this place apart is the extra step they take with the steak. Instead of throwing in big, chewy chunks, they actually grind the steak fresh right in front of you before they build your burrito. That means every bite is tender, flavorful, and perfectly balanced—no pulling out tough pieces or uneven bites. And the size? This burrito is huge. Ive been to that spot twice now the first time i got the order of birria tacos. They did have good flavor but i could tell they werent made fresh. Second time i got the taco plate with rice and beans. Both rice and beans were cold and the tortillas on the tacos were cold aswell. So i know things arent made fresh and the waitress doesnt really pay attention to the plate before stting it at the table. Im not the type to complain i just wouldnt come back.

Stopped by while driving through for a to-go order. Met with a friendly greeting by staff. Only person in the restaurant. Food came out quickly. I ordered 4 tacos. This is subjective but the tacos were on the spicy side. The chorizo taco were too greasy for me and not that flavorful. Steak tacos were fine. Overall it’s not a bad place for tacos. Worth going out of your way for - probably not.

Visit Feb. 22. Great flavor; seasoning was prefect 👌, there was no wait time, service was on their game. Family vibe, great place to go on date. Very nice people. I plan to return soon.
