Oakton Library

I am writing this for parents with toddlers visiting the library. I give the star because I appreciate the staff and sources offered to the members of the community. It seems like the library has limited resources and cannot offer a quiet place to focus for studying or enjoy reading the book on the floor. There are toddlers crying and screaming all over on the floor almost every morning. I don't believe it is the librarians responsibility to clam them down but the parents if they see their child does not feel ok., they can be helpful and respectful of others and leave home so that others can enjoy the environment in peace. Good for goose, good for gander!

A True Community Sanctuary for the Curious This public library deserves every one of its five stars and more. It is, quite simply, the best resource in our community. David Shaffer and his staff are unfailingly kind, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping patrons find a specific rare title, navigate their digital resources or offer advice to local authors. The facility itself is a remarkable blend of wildflowers and old-growth trees outside, to classic comfort and LEED certification inside. It offers wonderfully quiet reading nooks, public wifi, and study rooms—a true sanctuary where one can focus and pursue deep thought without distraction. love the staff here, but the library has completely lost what it’s meant for: quiet focus. Instead of a study space, it’s turned into a hangout spot — phone calls on speaker, wild loud kids playing computer games , and loud conversations that drown out any chance of concentration. At one point someone was practically giving out a pho cooking tutorial over the phone. 😡 People who come here for serious study are being pushed out. If the staff don’t step in and enforce quiet, then this isn’t a library anymore — it’s just a hangout spot for with bookshelves.

We love our library. The staff is wonderful and so helpful. They are always planning great events for the kids and so kind to them.

Excellent community library with a superb, helpful, friendly, professional staff. They may not have the book you're looking for, but they can get it for you, for sure.
