Oakland Public Library

Our town library is truly wonderful. When I first moved here 16 years ago, I didn’t visit it much during the first seven years. However, everything changed when my son was born. We became regular visitors! I would take him to story time with Ms. Debbie when he was a baby and toddler, and we loved participating in arts and crafts activities. As he grew older, we tried to attend as many events as we could, whether it was magicians, the Bigfoot hunter, musicians, or science shows—anything that seemed fun! Now that my son is 7, he adores the library and enjoys exploring all the books. I have also found the library to be a great place for studying and writing, especially since I returned to school. While Oakland’s library may not be the biggest, the staff are friendly and always willing to help

I love my hometown library! They always have a good selection of new books. The ambience is calming and the staff are all nice. I always get new books and movies quickly! Also, keep an eye out for their book sales across from the circulation checkout desk.

The entire library staff including the director, Peter have been incredibly kind to myself and my children. They go above and beyond to help this community and to provide educational and interesting programs. We have held girl scout meetings here and the library has always been accommodating. When my children were small we frequented the many wonderful children's programs and Miss Debbie and Miss Barbara became like friends. The Oakland library is a wonderful asset to this town and we are so grateful to have it.

We are so fortunate to have such a well stocked, clean, inviting library with terrific staff and programs for residents of all ages. During my son’s toddler years, we enjoyed many music classes and events. Now that he’s in school and reading, he loves to browse the vast book collection in the children’s section. Sometimes we’ll pick a spot to relax and read together in one of the many comfy areas they provide. This library was a staple of my childhood in Oakland and now it is the same for my son.

The Oakland public library is great! Everyone is always so helpful! The selection is great and if they don't have it, they order it new, or from another library. My kids wanted to try a new nintendo switch game that was coming out and they ordered it! Peter and Lena are great! Also, my mother and daughter saw Savage Piano last Spring and loved it! They concert was great!
