Nytia's Soul Kitchen

Found myself in the area and saw some good reviews for Nytia’s Soul Kitchen so decided to grab some takeout for dinner. Nytia was out front chatting with some other customers and her son was working the register - both incredibly friendly people. Nytia’s service and hospitality went above and beyond. I’d heard about her famous catfish nuggets and ordered a portion, she unfortunately told me she couldn’t spare any because she had a large private event starting in 1 hour. When I’d explained that I was only in the area for the day and was excited to try some she without hesitation, brought me a sampling straight from the fryer. Southern vibes. Cat fish was 10/10, get the nuggets because they are crisper. Collard greens 9/10 a little sweet but that is a preference. The Mac and cheese was 7/10 it was authentic mac and cheese but I suspect that they make a big batch that causes it to be on the drier side. The chicken wings 8/10 I looked the dry rub and they were nice and crispy. The yams 8.5/10 I didn’t want to try them because I’m used to them having marshmallows on them but I took a chance and they did not disappoint. The owner was so nice and the vibe was cool. Overall the meal was 9/10 catfish nuggets were the star. I was reading a lot of the comments saying that the owner shouldn’t have had her kids serving and she needs some pointers on how to cook but to keep it 100% you all just don’t want to see a black bus

We decided to give this spot a try after wanting a meal that would not only fill our stomachs but our soul, and I’m glad we chose Nytia’s. We ordered two soul food plates — 1 meat and 2 sides for $19 each. I went with the garlic and herb wings, and my wife got the hot honey wings. Both came with about six wings each, and they were so flavorful and meaty! For sides, we both chose collard greens and mac & cheese. The collard greens were seasoned perfectly, and the mac and cheese was rich and delicious — definitely comfort food done right. Each meal also came with cornbread, which for me was the only miss of the night; it didn’t have much flavor and didn’t seem super fresh, but to be fair, we went around 6 PM, so it might’ve just been late in the day. The service & atmosphere was impeccable. The establishment was very clean & inviting. I had the opportunity to meet and speak with the owner & her son openly. I had gotten the Catfish(3) good size pieces, candid yams & greens and cornbread. I did ask were they really from the South and they said yes. We talked about the sweet tea & desserts. The sweet tea & peach cobbler were great. I will return to try another meal. I will go back to talk with them because I have a few (helpful) suggestions for next times. Some soul food establishments say they are from the South and you taste the food and you be like, I don’t think so. Thank you again Nytia.🤗

This time around I had to get a large order of wings!! Cause they are that good..Nytia's never fails anytime I get the sweet chili 😋 so consistent and flavorful fried just right each time. Btw it's a little tricky to pick up your order because of location..but I find if you park on a side street, and walk across the street right quick..lol it works for me. O. M. Goodness! So good! We placed order online for pu and it was ready the time it mentioned. I had fried catfish w 2 sides mac and cheese and collard greens with a piece of cornbread. Fish was light and fried/seasoned perfectly. The mac and cheese was sufficient, not gooey and juicy but still good. The cornbread was sufficient not sweet cakelike.
