Norwich Public Works

I know that snow plowing can be difficult at times, especially when street curbing is not the same, equipment is old and may not be maintained to standards or the driver can become distracted. For the years I have lived at the current address, the driver has taken measures to stay off and away from the asphalt curbing during previous heavy and light snow fall. However, that did not happen this time after the light snow we got 01/23/2024. My yard was the only yard with damage. I even during snow blowing of my driveway, run my snowblower along the curbing clearing the path for the postal worker. I still respect the staff and hope for better outcomes in the future.

Since I already have a review couldnt make a new one. Again with this place nothing but a headache of people who ignore you. I have taken a trip every year to this place during the snow. Complained about the same issues that I have to keep addressing because plows come up and half do a job and they say the truck to big to fit up the road but thats a problem for them to fix get a smaller truck, we are not responsible to shovel a street. Also trucks driving fast that I sit and watch which is sad they only drive slow because I made a point being outside how fast they were driving and broke over $140 of Christmas candy cane lights that are in my yard because a plow hit it and pulled it. Went down there spoke to the people sent an email as they asked 4 weeks later still nothing. I want my money

Fantastic crew that takes pride in their work and our town. It's easy to overlook the tremendous efforts they put forth, but I know the people who live in or pass through Norwich enjoy and benefit from them on a regular basis. One example among the many: I've driven all over the state and our roads after snow are the safest and cleanest I've yet to see, and it's all done expediently. Definitely one of the town's unglorified highlights!

Let me say this, normally I have nothing but praise for this dept. However, a recent experience has left me with smoke coming out of my ears, Normal leaf pick up is well into December, my family came over to help me with my leaves, we bagged 30 bags, no more could be bagged because they were still on the tree, well yesterday November 17th they decided to do leaf pick up early, I spoke to the guys as to why they were so early, they said the city sent them out earlyto keep the guys busy, going up Canterbury Tpke. you can see my leaves that fell out of the truck, all over the road, they told me they would come back monday, tuesday and wednesday , they have 3 crews this year out picking up leaves, which is at least 2 and a half earlier then other years. My family is only available on weekends

This is the absolute worst Public Works in the area. They drive around wasting tax payers dollars daily. Utilizing workers hours gas and wear and tear on the vehicles. Definitely don't know how to plow roads or maintain the town, especially considering the size and expense. Don't fix any issue, just patch and drive by 100x. If taxpayers were aware of the waste they would be sickened.
