Nickel's Diner

Stopped here based on a recommendation from some locals as I was driving thru. I have a lot of cinnamon rolls as I travel the country and most disappoint. This one was GIANT, full of cinnamon, and moist. Corned beef has was nice and crispy and so were the hash browns. The wait staff runs like a well oiled machine and are very nice and attentive. You should stop here. :)

Everything was like 1 step off, maybe its good sometimes. The POOL of oil in my burnt up hashbrown edges prompted the review.

The moment I walked in, I noticed the friendly, down-to-earth atmosphere — the kind where the servers greet you with a smile and seem to genuinely care about your experience. This is the last time I will be eating at Nick‘s diner due to what they told me is the manager. I have two kids who unfortunately were under the weather and obviously fussy After waiting a bit for food. Not only was she making faces but she had the audacity to come to me to tell me to control my children because my daughter dropped the maple syrup. what she told me was to “please control my children because it is a waste of food”. Unfortunately, kids will be kids, and I understand that and I tried my best as a single mother to calm them down, but for her to come up to me at the end of the meal to tell me that not in the nicest tone way possible was not OK and very Disrespectful attitude. We passed Nickel's Diner many times on our way to IGA but never ate there. Didn't know what to think of it. We finally did and it was less than average in our opinion. Two plates, tacos dorados and the other one I can't really remember it was so unimpressive. From the picture it was some kind of carne asada with cole slaw. My tacos dorados were just good. Nothing beyond that. The flavors just made the grade....barely. The shell had more flavor than what was inside the taco. The refried beans were almost a bit on the watery side. There is creamy and then there is way too creamy where it was falling thru the spaces in between on my fork. It felt like I was trying to eat a soup with a fork when I tried the refried beans.
