The food was very good. The way they cook their meats, stews, and even the potatoes has flavors that feel somewhat familiar to Latin American cooking, which made the dishes easy to enjoy. Nothing extremely out of the ordinary, but definitely a pleasant experience and a great way to try something different. The ambience was very nice — warm, relaxed, and with a comfortable atmosphere. The decoration throughout the restaurant added to the experience. The service was normal. Nothing bad, nothing exceptional, just straightforward and efficient. Overall, a good place to try new flavors and enjoy a different style of cuisine.
New cuisins tried for the first time very similar to Indian food. But didnt like much the taste, maybe due to bland food as we are more habituated to relish with spices. Beautiful ambience and cordial, friendly owners.
I loved the food. This was my first time trying Eritrean food which is not surprising since the county is only two years older than I am. The food is very similar to Ethiopian food which is to be expected but I definitely detected nuances in the flavor profile that were distinct. However, I don't think I could verifiably state those differences. I was expecting a more spartan atmosphere but the design inside the restaurant was modern. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was praiseworthy. The price isn't too bad for being steps away from Golden Gate Park.
Great experience! I love coming here, it has a very comforting and relaxing environment. The customer service is excellent, and the food is delicious, especially the vegetarian platter and the sambusa's. It’s a warm and friendly atmosphere, and I would definitely recommend this place! As far as other Ethiopian and Eritrean restaurants go, this is by far #1!
I love this place! Neighborhood gem. So delicious and such a lovely family business (the owner is so friendly). My partner and I been going here for years. I very recently became vegan and am so grateful I can still keep coming here. I didn't even realize all the veggies dishes we used to get were labeled vegan until I became vegan! Highly recommend the Kantisha (ask for it spicy if you like spicy — it's so delicious spicy), the Tumtumo, and Hamli. And before I went vegan, I used to love their meat sambusa. I still miss that lol but I'll take having almost half the menu still available to me! :-) If you like wine, their honey wine is tasty and sweet and deceptively strong hahah.
