Nash & Smashed (New Hampshire Ave, Silver Spring)

This is a fairly new restaurant that seems to have just undergone changes so I don’t want to be too harsh, but I have to be honest. PART OF MY BURGER WAS RAW!!!! (Look at images) luckily it was just a small central bit of one patty so I scraped it out and ate around it. But this definitely gave me the ick. Other than that the sauce tasted good, and the burger itself had so much potential (if only it had been cooked well). I got the cheeseburger and added onion straws but sadly the onion straws were soggy and I felt they got lost in the burger. MY MOUTH HURT AFTER EATING THE FRIES!! I have never had fries that felt CHEWY & RUBBERY, I could describe it similarly to chewing a gummy or leather. They were also cold, but on a positive note the seasoning on the fries was great! I like that you can choose your own spice level. Unfortunately, I decided on a burrito, and all the other ingredients mellowed the hot chicken. I wish I had ordered a sandwich. My mistake. The burrito was super filling, but had a strange tang to it that I didn't enjoy. Onion rings are fantastic though.

Unbelievable experience at what initially looks like a carryout restaurant. When we walked in we knew we were gonna take our carryout order and sit in. The menu has a lot of variety. The food came out fresh and made to order, but it did not take a long time. I looked at the reviews and saw that the Gyro over rice looked really good, it tasted even better!! The owner was very relatable, and very hospitable. Though you order at the counter, they bring the food to you like at a sit down restaurant! It felt almost like I was eating at a family-friend’s or my uncle’s house! I already know what I’m going to order when I come back from my second trip! Keep up the amazing job !! We took the family out to dinner tonight, and tried N&S on a whim. We were very pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff, quick service, and quality food. Everything was hot and tasty, fries crispy and well-seasoned. Portions and price for value are both really good. We will definitely return!

The neighborhood does not do the quality of the food justice. I want to start with the service. Saleem, is an AMAZING chef who prioritizes the needs of every individual customer. Coming into the restaurant I already felt like I was apart of the family and that's what made this experience so special and one I will never forget. Moving onto the food, the menu may seem overwhelming but if you ask Chef Saleem for recommendations and for his feedback I PROMISE YOU will not regret his choices.
