Moon Dog Brick Oven - Wytheville, VA

Stopped by Moon Dog on our road trip and it was the highlight of the drive! The pizza was incredibly tasty and you can tell they use fresh ingredients. Exactly what we needed before hitting the road again. Highly recommend for anyone passing through!

This was our first visit and we didn’t leave disappointed. The restaurant is clean. The prices were a little on the higher side but no more than compared to others. A large 5 topping pizza, garden salad and two drinks was $43. The salad was fresh and the pizza was excellent and cooked perfectly. They forgot to put on the Italian sausage we ordered, but considering we didn’t notice until we were down to only 3 slices left, I’d say it was ok. This is an “order at the counter” pay and sit down type place so they aren’t very personable, but the food, cleanliness and overall atmosphere makes it worth going to and we will be there again.

The pizza was delicious, hands down better than any chain. I'd recommend finding some honey to dip the crust into. Sauce was slightly sweet, cheese is plentiful, crust is thin and crispy, pepperonis were 6.5/10 in taste. good crisp.

Tuesday 9/16 ordered 1 large cheese pizza and waited 40 min with no apology or anything for the excessive wait. It wasn’t busy (maybe 6 ppl in the restaurant) and not many pick up orders. Plus it’s not a brick oven. Update, got to my hotel room and tried the pizza. Floppy and the sauce taste like cheap store bought sauce and the crust taste like the premade crust from Kroger or food lion.

Great local pizza restaurant. We were greeted when we came in by a super friendly guy. I asked for goid local IPA recommendations and was able to try a few samples to arrive at my selection which was the Sunset IPA. My husband & I split a salad and medium pizza which was more than enough for us. We didn't bring our doggies with us but we noted that the enclosed patio was dog friendly.
