Monterrey Mexican Restaurant

I enjoy this place. Its quite the nice local spot for your Mexican cuisine. I enjoy the fajitas personally as well as the enchiladas. They have beer on tap and the margaritas are wonderful if you want one. They have a clean sitting area and take care of anyone that comes in.

Got there after 8pm. First thing i noticed was the sausa had a slight soapy flavor. Thought it was my imagination. Then they started cleaning the floor. Realized the food, chips, salsa and the dinner tasted like the floor cleaner Fabuloso. Order was messed up. Tried to eat anyway because we were hungry. Had to leave cause of the syench of the floor cleaner. Seems the strong odor permiated all the food. Dear management, please be aware of how oders can effect food flavor.

Went there a few nights ago while in town for business. Food, service and atmosphere was really good and would go back if back in town in the future.

"Authentic?" Lol.....no way is this place "authentic." I believe the reviews must compare this place to Taco John's, which I question, bc TJ's is probably better. The staff cannot make a margarita on the rocks, they ONLY have pre-made margaritas!!! That's correct folks, they cannot make the most ordered drink in America!!! The food is greasy (see pic) and the guacamole is from a bag! Again, NOTHING here is authentic, NOTHING! Oh, the bar has 5 seats and the glasses overhead are disgusting!

Stopped here on our way home from Storm Lake, IA. Greeted and seated immediately. Service was fast and professional. Chips and salsa were good. Iced Tea was excellent. Ordered the Enchiladas Bandera with al pastor. Holy Cow! It was awesome. Rice and beans were good too. Everyone was impressed with the food. Wife had a 32 oz blended pineapple margarita. She said it was excellent and was made with good tequila. Very good experience. Definitely recommend Monterrey to anyone in the Cherokee IA area or even if youre in Storm Lake, it is worth the drive.
