Montego Island Grill

I read the reviews and figured I would see if this place lived up to the hype. And it did. We ordered the Jerk Chicken and Oxtails. I thought I was back on vacation in Montego Bay. I definitely recommend this spot.

Horrible food and the customer service is even worse! Tried giving this place several chances! The Chef/ Owner shouldn’t speak with customers! He became agitated because I asked for them to charge me the difference for the I food purchased and the food I actually ended up getting. It was like a $14 difference. After he realized he couldn’t talk me out of the situation, he asked me not to come back. I was confused but reluctant! I ended up leaving his food there! I didn’t ask for a refund because the business seems to be struggling! De’Flavour off of Virginia Beach Blvd has this place beat anyways! De’ Flavour has better food and the chef has a welcoming demeanor. Montego Bay is just conveniently located by the mall!

I paid Montego to cater my dad’s 70th birthday dinner. We ordered two large trays of oxtail and curry goat and three small trays of Rasta pasta, cabbage and greens. Our total was $873.60. I paid $436.80 as a down payment. When I arrived at the restaurant they said that pos system was down and that they could only take cash. She said she tried to call me but I missed it due to a call filter. Only accepting cash and having no back up options when your business is positioned as accepting debit, credit and cash is unprofessional and unacceptable. Especially in this economy. What if I didn’t have $460+ in cash to pay for the rest of the food? What then? With all the technology that exists for payment systems in 2026, your business has a pos system that failed and you have no alternative methods

Here for a week and trying local places. The food was really good and the staff were super nice!! Not sure why the other reviews are saying they are rude, perhaps not come in being mean in the first place? It was a party of four; did not have to wait long, food was hot, and really good. I’d highly recommend this spot, will be back when we come to visit again in April.

My chicken was over cooked or old I don’t know but it was dry and chewy. I know everyone’s cooking is a bit different but the flavor of the stewed chicken was just off, the rice looked and tasted like it’s from a box and the candied yams were overly sweet and looked like they’re from a can. I dont judge appearance to harshly because I know sometimes the whole in the wall restaurants have the best tasting food but unfortunately this one didn’t.
