Legendary New Haven style pizza - by far the best I’ve tried yet. It can take quite some time to get a table (~15 parties in front of us when we showed up on a Saturday around 2:00pm), but we were able to get a pizza from the take out window in under 20 minutes. The pizza is perfectly crisp while still maintaining a nice chew and lightness. It also doesn't get overly charred like at other New Haven style establishments. The sauce is delightful, and the amount of cheese is just right. Definitely the closest to the perfect pizza I’ve ever had outside of my trip to Italy.
When we took a trip in the area we had to stop in to this famous pizza spot. There was a line at opening but it went fast. The interior is an old style booth setting. The staff was very friendly and pizza was of course fantastic. Stop if you can, if you are a pizza lover like myself you won't be disappointed. Then you can walk to Yale to burn some of the calories off.
First time here. Thought Pepe’s was incredible, but this?! Wow! The crust is everything. Thin, crispy, flavorful and chewy. Charred just right. Flavors on point. For those health conscious folks, the veggie bomb was so good! Thicker crust, fresh veggies, and not greasy.
The Connecticut’s iconic clam pizza is an absolute must-order from Modern Apizza. The thin, crisp crust serves as the perfect base for generous portions of fresh clams, briny and tender, with just the right balance of chew and char. Expertly executed, thank you for making it a great first time memorable experience. Friendly, attentive staff too.
Like anyone else that's normal, I like a good pizza. But I've rarely been to New England. Watching the last season of Resident Alien, I found that New Haven is known for its pizza. Doing a little research on my own, I found Modern and boy am I glad I did. Best road trip food in a long time... Great staff, too.
