Mo Ran Gak Restaurant - Garden Grove

We’ve been at many Korean BBQ restaurants, but Mo Ran Gak is our top list favorite, from food to service. Banchans are fresh and change mostly daily except the basic banchans like kimchi and cucumber, they are different from other restaurants, significantly home made and delicate, seasoned well balanced. From cold to hot soup I guess every dish is well deserved to try. My unforgettable impression of Mo Ran Gak restaurant is the marinated Short ribs, the beef is literally melting in my mouth, the meat is still juicy, full flavored and melting. Besides food the service and staff are super nice and careful. Highly recommended for anyone who loves Korean cuisine.

The best Korean food I've ever had. The portions are huge and we realized we ordered too much food because we were expecting 'private equity owned chain restaurant' portions and we got Korean mom and pops portions. They gave us so much stuff on the house along with a variety of banchan and sauces. We ended up having 6 to-go containers. Our server was a chill guy who was prompt, knowledgeable and cooked our bbq perfectly. Really great experience, will be coming back.

Was recommended to go here and it did not disappoint! It’s à la carte, so we went with the 2 person “prime non-marinated Korean bbq” combo A which was perfect in serving. I am still dreaming about the spicy cold noodles 🥹🤤🤤 service is excellent. They cook for you in case you come with a diva who doesn’t want to cook. Meat was fresh and very tender. Definitely will come back here again!!

My uncle used to take me here quite a bit when I was a child, but I haven’t been back in about a decade. So when I heard that Mo Ran Gak made the top 6 on Yelp OC’s top places to eat for 2025, I was a bit surprised since my memory of this place was relatively lukewarm. I decided to revisit to see what all the hoopla was about. We came on a Sunday night around 7pm and there was almost no wait - which was unexpected because I remembered it being longer in my childhood. As we were shown to our seats, I snagged a nice hot cup of black sesame liquid from the machine at the front of the store. It was warm and comforting on a cold rainy day - just like how I remembered it. Food is served a la carte here with different tiers of dinner combos available as well. The staff grill the meat for you. O

My family and I came here straight from JWA. Luckily there was no wait when we arrived. We sat down and was greeted with the banchan. Everything on the menu was delicious and choose to get the Mo Ran Gak choice D for 4 people. The waiter helped cook our proteins: brisket; short rib; pork belly, chicken and shrimp. Mid way through eating was when we looked at each other and realized we ordered more than enough food. We will definitely come back the next time we're in town. Before the food was eaten and the damage afterwards.
