His Instagram handle, Poetry in the Kitchen, couldn’t be more fitting, because that’s exactly what the evening felt like. Every dish told a story, crafted with love, soul, and intention. From start to finish, the entire bridal party was blown away. Every plate was completely cleaned, not a single bite left behind! The flavors, presentation, and flow of the evening were seamless and elevated, yet filled with warmth and heart. You can taste the passion that Rene puts into his cooking with each bite - exquisite. I had the 12 hour smoked brisket which simply melts in your mouth with some fresh focaccia 🤌🏼. For desert we had the Zesty Olive Oil cake which is everyone’s favorite and Tarta Fresca which was my favorite. 10/10 all around 🙌🏼

I was familiar with Renee’s cooking through friends, and then so excited to see him start Mixcakes & Bakes. I ordered 2 (torta noche and sunshine olive oil) to impress art industry friends last night, and they cakes were deliscious! My guests - and even the staff off the brewery where we gathered - took photos of Renee’s fun labels for future reference. Great product and the word is spreading!

I have ordered the Sunshine Olive Oil cake on 3 separate occasions already. It’s been a smash with everyone who’s tried it. My sister loves eating it for breakfast and swears it gets tastier as it ages. I’ll have to try other menu items eventually, but it’s so hard passing on that Olive Oil cake. Try it, you wont be disappointed!

I have had the pleasure of tasting Rene’s food for some years now and every. single. thing. he creates is magic. That has now extended to his wonderful, delicious bakes! He puts so much love, poetry, and pride into everything he creates. Could not recommend more!
