Midwest Sad

Nostalgic, homey vibes (but with better food) This was my first time at the new space in Walker’s Point and the vibes were chic yet cozy! Nice variety in seating — counter chairs, classic tables, and comfortable lounge seating — whether you’re just popping in or planning to make yourself at home. On this midweek morning, I ordered a build-your-own vegan breakfast sandwich that was made fresh and incredibly satisfying (I highly recommend the chili oil). Of course I couldn’t leave without the jumbo vegan funfetti sugar cookies — the perfect chewy, slightly crispy, sprinkle-filled, big-enough-to-share (but you won’t want to) treat. Sam and the team are doing an amazing job with their location in Walker’s Point. It’s a classic walk-up diner with a no-frills breakfast menu and a pastry selection you would not believe. HIGHLY recommend the pesto monkey bread as well as the biscuits and gravy. The vibe is unbeatable, the staff are a dream, the food is insane. Go spend your money here, then get your families and friends to do the same! Truly the definition of a neighborhood spot and the location is hard to beat.

Sam Sandrin is the most lovely individual. I had a party and had her make some scones and lemon tartes for it. Not only was Sam kind and collaborative in coming up with dessert ideas and flavors for the party, but she was also really patient and kind and we finalized what I was looking for. The flavor of the scones and tartes exceeded expectations and everyone at my party loved them! These were definitely the best scones I’ve ever had!! I’m excited to use her for my next party and to stop by the bakery soon! Thank you Sam for everything!

If you haven’t stopped in to check out Midwest Sad I HIGHLY recommend you make the time. This is one of my absolute favorite places in Walker’s Point and I would argue one of the best places for baked goods in the city. Neighborhood diner vibe is immaculate, cozy, and quaint. The house-made biscuits and chili oil are next level. Truly, every item I’ve tried has been incredible though. Sam and team are seriously amazing, and you can feel how much love they put into every item. These days, we should all be supporting small businesses that are actively trying to do good in our communities, and Midwest Sad certainly is. <3 Just do yourself a favor and get in there, okay?

I absolutely adore this place!! The desserts and the food are to die for!! The owners are so sweet and accommodating as well :) I would definitely recommend this place for meals, snacks, drinks, or a working space. (I’ve been going here for lunch every week, and I just put my coworkers onto it too 🤭)
