Midgett & Son's Crab Company

I'm in town from Oklahoma and this place was suggested by the ladies at Capt Bob's Seafood in Jacksonville. I drove an hour out of my way and 2 hours to my BnB in Oriental - it was worth it! I ended up spending around $400 on Grouoer, Lobster Tail, Giant Shrimp, Blue Crab, Stone Crab, King Crab, Goat Chesse, Sugar Plum Jam, Custom Spices, Homegrown Mushrooms, Sourdough Bread, Pickled Garlic and Goat Cheese, and Fruit! I wanted everything! Owners where patient with me as I didn't know how much I should get of each for 4 to 5 meals. Go out of your way and support these local fishermen/women!

Not only does Magdett and Sons offer fresh, local seafood but they offer a whole range of other foods and products from our fair state of NC. Today we bought shucked oysters and jumbo shrimp, and they were the best we’ve ever had. For real. Take a wild ride to Sneads Ferry. We steamed the shrimp and had broiled oysters as a snack.

Recently stayed in N.Topsail for a month and asked local where to get the freshest shrimp and seafood. They told me about Midgett’s, and it did not disappoint! Highly recommend! Fresh shrimp, scallops, fish, crabs, oysters, produce and so much more! We even got lobster tails that were locally harvested.

I was in the "mood" for fresh red snapper. I called in advance, was assured by a very nice lady that, indeed, they had fillets in stock, never frozen. Made a quick trip from Jacksonville. Picked out what I wanted, they bagged it, adding ice, and we were off and running. I have a Blackstone Griddle, a birthday gift from my wife. Kosher salt, a little pepper and a special rub that we make ourselves, a medium hot griddle, and the fillets went meat down. Added chopped onions and peppers (a mixture) on a cooler part of the Blackstone with some olive oil, and we were off and running. About 6 minutes later (could have been 8...I don't count, I look at the fish as it's cooking), then flipped it over...liked what I saw, let it cook at reduced heat for another 5 minutes or so, covered both fillets w

Today, My wife’s blue crab craving decided to test the limits of my ability to find her some in mid January. Luckily midget and sons had some! I called a very nice lady in advance and she said they had $1 female crabs and also large males. We both took a nice drive to sneads ferry and lo and behold! They did! Cooking them now and wife is now content. VERY NICE STAFF and $1 females is honestly off the hook in my opinion as far as price goes. I initially thought the crabs would be skinny but they aren’t. Very fat healthy crabs! Thank you! Will be returning. They also have a ton of other stuff.
