Menchie's Frozen Yogurt

We usually love a local froyo run, but our recent visit to Menchies felt like a lesson in "counting down the minutes until closing." From service slip-ups to maintenance issues, the vibe was definitely off. • The "Phone" Distraction: We spent a good portion of our checkout time waiting for the staff to look up from their phones. Being a "greetings-optional" establishment isn't a great look for a family spot. • The Discount Discrepancy: We asked for a military discount, which the staff flatly denied. However, their own website lists it as an active discount. We used to love the West Des Moines Menchies, but it has gone downhill the last few times we’ve gone. The store is dirty and 1/3 of the froyo machines are empty so the flavor options are underwhelming. When we went in today, there weren’t any waffle bowls available nor were they making any. The two teenage girls working were just chatting and twisting their hair…several people walked in while we were eating our froyo and the girls never bothered to stop their conversation to greet the customers. If the owner cares about this place, they’ll get some new staff with better customer service skills or take some time to train them.

The place was just filthy. The floor was dirty, the tables outside were dirty. The toppings bar was dirty and some of them empty. Meanwhile, the two employees were just casually talking and laughing and really not paying attention or not caring about the cleanliness of the place. I have been to many Menchie’s and this is the first time I’m disappointed about a location, not only about cleanliness but also about the bad shape.

Would love to give this place a good review but unfortunately cannot. This place is absolutely filthy. Tables dirty, floor sticky, walls dirty, a foul odor. Scares me to think what the froyo machines look like. I hope the owner sees this and does something about it because it could be great.

My daughter and I went in wanting to try some of the new flavors. Most of the machines were out of order and the ones in working order were out of yogurt or were complete liquid. When asked the employee simply said "I don't know" and walked back behind the counter to stand. Staff were very unpleasant. We will not be coming back!!! If I could give zero stars I would.
