Medford Branch, Patchogue-Medford Library

I genuinely looked forward to spending time at this library as a place for quiet focus, reading, and productive work. Unfortunately, the experience was deeply disappointing. The space functions less like a library and more like a daycare environment. With a single open floor plan and no designated quiet or study areas, constant noise from children made it nearly impossible to concentrate. I specifically left home seeking peace and focus, only to find an even more distracting environment. Libraries traditionally serve as shared spaces for learning, reflection, and quiet work—for students, professionals, and readers alike. Complaint: The tech-manager of the computers-bank is horrible. The computers are unreliable, often ‘crashed’ and inaccessible. They are ‘locked-down’ to very tight standards of use but often fail at even basic functions. I live in the area run computers for a living. Would eagerly step up there to maintain things in a proper order. - Brendan Guy

Great staff. Great service. But loud and noisy. Should be labeled as a Children’s library so that adults know what they are getting into when they visit. Very child friendly I must say. But the noise!!!

I'll start by saying that Patchogue-Medford Library is a place where you can find not only books to read but also staff who always is open to help patrons with different requirements. Just visit the library and feel the warm welcome.
