McLaren Central Michigan - Emergency Department

Spoke with anger towards me, paramedics made faces and laughed at my suicidal Ideations, and refusal to transport me to a hospital that didn't abuse me for 22 years. Injected me with an unknown substance without informing or asking for my consent. Refused to let my husband in the room.

I arrived at the ER yesterday morning for horrible right side back pain around 6:45am. I explained that the pain was so sever that it woke me up and I began puking from the pain. I was put in a room very quickly, however it took about an hour for the doctor to come see me. When the doctor arrived, I was still crying, puking and in severe pain. I explained that and he ordered a blood test, a CAT scan, and a urine test. I sat in my room for an hour before anyone came to draw blood. (For those keeping track that puts the time at 8:45.) I then remained in my room till 10:15am when they finally came to do the urine sample and to get my scan done. From being someone who's worked in the mount pleasant medical field for the last 5 years I've always heard McLaren get a bad rap. But honestly I am super impressed with their level of care. Started going to them last year when I was pregnant. My Ob at mymich no longer accepted my insurance so I had to go to McLaren. Through my pregnancy I had a couple visits to the ER where each time they were kind, compassionate and most importantly quick. Fast forward to today, I had been sick for the last week with pneumonia, tried to fight it at home and wasn't working. Went into the ER, walked in at 7:22am, got taken back by a nurse immediately who was super nice, she got my vitals and Dr. Inman came in almost immediately after she left. Wendy the NP in the ER is terrible. Then they gave me a medication that made me extremely dizzy and out of it and when I was shaking and feeling like passing out with a heart rate of 145 laying in bed they just unhooked the monitor and ignored me. Then put in my notes that I was angry at them, like no the medication you gave me messed me up and I couldn’t think clearly enough to even figure out what I was trying to say… and even though I tried telling them this they tried to say the medication just made me a little nauseous and that I was just upset and angry. How can medical professionals truly be this incompetent??? Went in for help and left feeling worse. Made a complaint and haven’t heard back from anyone, doesn’t seem like administration cares too much about patients either.

I was treated so kindly here. I was extremely sick. Went to the ER at 8am Saturday morning. We were the only people there at the time. Was seen right away. My nurse Brent was amazing. Super kind, compassionate, and knowledgeable. Definitely made me feel better knowing I have a team medial professionals who wanted to find out what was going wrong. I would recommend.
