This is one of my favorite places to eat. I can't recommend it enough. We have done the chef tasting menu four times and we are never disappointed. I can't say enough about our server Peter. He is absolutely fabulous. I told him I was going to rave about him on my review so here it is. He knew his menu, his wine selections and went above and beyond to make sure I had a perfect birthday celebration. Of all the service I have had he will by far be one of my most memorable. Thank you for keeping a smile on my face the entire evening, and that's not just the wine and bourbon talking. We truly loved this whole experience. The food was amazing, the restaurant is beautiful and service was top notch.
A Flawless Early Valentine’s Celebration at Matthew’s My husband and I decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day a little early this year to skip the holiday crowds and noise, and it was the best decision we could have made. We treated ourselves to the 8-course Chef’s Table with the added wine pairing, and every second of the experience was sheer magic. The Perfect Start We began with cocktails that were works of art. I had the "Purple Reign," which was strikingly beautiful and had a wonderful, frothy texture. My husband’s Four Peppers Margarita was a spicy, delicious masterpiece—not for the faint of heart, but absolutely worth it. Expertise & Atmosphere The service truly elevated the night. Preston was incredibly knowledgeable, guiding us through the food and wine pairings with a level of deta
We celebrated my fiancé’s birthday with the Chef’s Tasting Menu at Mathew’s, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we sat down, our server was incredibly attentive, guiding us through each course with warmth, knowledge, and genuine enthusiasm making the night feel truly special. The menu was a brilliant global journey, blending cultures with creativity and precision. The Rye Spaetzle in pumpkin curry sauce brought cozy German comfort with a modern twist, but the star of the show? The Lamb with semolina gnocchi, spinach soubise, and crispy prosciutto, known as “deconstructed beef Wellington” inspired masterpiece! Rich, tender, and perfectly balanced. Just need a larger stomach.
This was our first visit and we were very impressed. This was the best dining experience of any restaurant I’ve been to in Jacksonville. Service from Ryan and Jonathan 10/10. Second courses: Escargot 10/10 - Incredible Tomato Corn Bisque 8/10 - Perfect, but flavor profile is strong. Entrees: Catch of the day 10/10 - was Chilean sea bass. The most perfectly cooked fish we’ve ever had. It was essentially a giant scallop. Pork Chop 7/10 - Very good, carrots were incredible, but I’d try something else next time. Sides: Peppers 7/10. They were good but wouldn’t get again Truffle fries 9/10. A very large portion even for two people. Drinks 10/10. Reasonably priced and delicious. If you have the budget to splurge on a dinner this is the place to go. Under $200 for two drinks, two courses eac
I visited Matthew’s for the first time and was truly impressed by their warm hospitality. Four members of their staff personally came by to congratulate us on our anniversary dinner, which made the evening feel extra special. We brought a bottle of fine wine and they charged $35 corkage which I found very reasonable. We chose the six-course tasting menu but decided to take the last two courses to go, leaving room for the soufflé we ordered as an extra treat. The standout dish of the night was the sea bass — perfectly cooked, moist and flaky, with beautifully crisp skin. The other courses were enjoyable, though less memorable: tuna tartare with an Italian twist (which could have been served a bit colder), ravioli with duck confit, and dry-aged pork accompanied by braised Wagyu beef eggpla
