Mary Lou Johnson Hardin County District Library

We love this library! My children always have so much fun during story time, doing the crafts, and enjoying the snacks. It’s really helped my 4 year old get ready for school, he’s been practicing sitting still and listening to the stories. Ms. Molly and Ms. Abbey are the best and always so friendly to us, and my daughter adores them ❤️. Everyone there is so kind and helpful. We’ll really miss story time now that my kids are heading off to school, but we’re so grateful for all the wonderful memories we’ve made here.

We recently moved back to the area and was trying to get our library cards updated/ new copy. The lady working up front was helping another patron when she interrupted helping her to ask us what we needed- I said that’s ok finish helping her first. She then said no it was going to be awhile with helping her and then asked for our info. I felt bad she gave up on the other woman. Another lady came from the back to help her though. Anyways after looking at my husbands account she said he had $22 or something like that worth of fees but nothing still checked out. I asked if that’s what the policy is there now bc every other library I have been to takes away fines when you return the item (Logan county, Franklin county, richwood, plain city, Union county, etc to name a few) and she looked at me

The silence here is deafening, a void where only the whispers of forgotten authors and the occasional muted scream of a lost soul (or toddler) can be heard.🤘🏼😁🤘🏼

Worst library known to mankind, staff clearly pretends to be nice but has a different agenda. So my daughter was with her aunt one day who lives in the area, and this was the closest library to her. She took my daughter there to grab a book while she was staying with her for the night. When my daughter returned home she still had the book and I didn’t think anything of it, and I also live almost 2 hours from this library location. 5 months later I got a letter in the mail from Hardin county prosecuting attorney that if I didn’t return the book or pay for the book I would be criminally charged for a BOOK. Now I’m not saying the book shouldn’t be returned or paid, it should be as it will be. But I feel sorry for anyone who has to live in a county & use a library that is so poor and desperat

The receptionist that helped me was so very kind and eager to help. I'm very illiterate when it comes to computers, and she guided me through it , and was right on it when I had questions or needed help. I had important information that had to be filled out and sent for my job, and without her help I would have gotten nowhere. She was amazing...and after my time ran out on the computer, she went an extra step to help me to finish my task even as the library was closing. We need more people like her in this world. I highly recommend our local library!!!!!
