Martucci's Restaurant

TLDR: best place to eat on the lake, make a reservation and go! Now on to the full review: Lake George is 32 miles long, and the northern basin (north of the "Narrows" group of islands) really is better than the southern half. Why? It's cleaner, less busy, and a lot less commercialized. The trade-off is you're a bit farther from the highways, making the trip to the nearest airports (Albany, NY or Burlington, VT) or rainy day things like the mall a little longer. The northern basin also is not chock full of lakefront restaurants and bars like the south side (Bolton and Lake George village). Anyway, that was a long preamble to Martucci's restaurant. I'll get to the point now: this isn't just the best place to eat in northern lake George, it's the best place to eat on the lake - period! T

A peaceful and unique dining experience with wonderful lake views. Upon arrival, we were told to choose our entrees with the host and then grab our drinks at the bar and enjoy the back deck. I had an extremely healthy glass of wine for ~13$. The evening lake atmosphere is just what we wanted to pair with our drinks. We did feel the courses (bread, salad, soup, entrees) were too rushed. The stuffed flounder was superb, though! The dining room was a bit stuffy and small, but we relaxed after dinner outside again. Such a lovely evening!

The best part was the beautiful night and boat ride to the restaurant, Everything was a rush. We ordered drinks at the bar and before we even got our drinks to sit and enjoy the view we were rushed inside. We never saw our waitress. I mean not once. Kitchen staff placed food. We asked for ketchup and never received it. We wanted more drinks but again never saw a waitress. There were no more than three other tables seated. We were never offered dessert. I had to ask for the check. Food was ok. Very disappointed.

Old Adirondack lodge with a very cozy atmosphere and a reliably delicious traditional 3-course dinner. Fresh greens salad, perfect cup of soup. The pork chop entree was cooked to perfection with surprisingly good mashed potatoes and squash medley sides. Nothing pretentious, just executed very well. If it ain't broke don't fix it!
