Mara Restaurant and Bar

Great restaurant! Went here for a date night with my wife and left the children behind, and we enjoyed it. It’s a bit spendy, but our meal was fabulous. The grilled octopus was dynamite, the squash ravioli phenomenal, and we shared the chicken entree. Usually i feel like chicken is a boring choice, but our server raved about the preparation, and she was quite right. It was really delicious. A starter cocktail, bottle of wine, and dessert rounded out the evening. Great service, wonderful ambiance, all in all, highly recommend.

We did the Chef’s Table at Mara for my birthday, and I have to say, it’s one of the best tasting menus in Minneapolis. Every course was better than the last! I’m a vegetarian, and they thoughtfully catered to me—my entire 7-course meal was vegetarian and absolutely delicious. I’d heard tasting menus sometimes leave you hungry, but we were completely satisfied by the end. The service was impeccable as well. I would definitely return for any special occasion.

I went to Mara on my own for a birthday dinner and they just had the best service. As a solo diner, it’s hard to find a place that will treat you like you're a party of 4. They were attentive, my water never was empty, they packed my unfinished courses as the night went on and overall was attentive. I got the house made pita bread with the hummus which was recommended by my waiter 10/10. I think it was a 10/10 because of the pita though, the hummus alone was just okay. I also was not fond of their bread they give on the house but that’s just because it was really really crunchy. I got their lamb, i still think about it now. Came here slightly before close and had a great experience, i was really craving lamb chops, also got oysters, was very satisfied, once i ordered dessert the kitchen was closed so the waitress took it upon herself to make me a desert that was very enjoyable and i ended up liking it better than what i originally wanted!

Stopped in to try Mara. I’ve been to the Miami and Honolulu locations, so expectations were set—and this one delivered. Breakfast menu is limited, which I actually appreciate. Quality over chaos. Ordered the breakfast chicken shawarma sandwich and, not exaggerating, it’s the best thing I’ve eaten in Minneapolis so far. Full stop. Coffee was strong and slightly bitter—exactly what coffee should be when it’s trying to wake you up. Berry bowl was fresh, and they easily accommodated my no-strawberries request (always a good sign). Overall, a strong first visit. I’ll be back for lunch and dinner, likely sooner than planned.
