Mankato Swimming Pool

Mom, and other mothers, arranged swimming lessons for their kids one summer. It was a big deal. I couldn't swim, was shy, and was rather hesitant to have someone watch me flounder. To enjoy the pool, a person had to join by having completed the lessons given by the pool. There were strict rules to abide by. Someone from the top ladder of the highest spring board jumped off, not looking, and landed on top of me. It knocked the wind from me, and I barely made it to the side of the pool, in 1970, something. No one came to my aid, and no one cared that it had happened. I didn't want to go back, as I was afraid. The lifeguards need a lot of training, but unfortunately, it seems like they just don't care. They don't pay attention and they treat their shifts like it's a party rather than a very important responsibility.
