Makarios Kabobs & Grill

We came to Birmingham for a show and needed to find a good place for dinner near our hotel. We saw Makarios and decided to try it. It’s very casual but smelled incredible! I ordered the lamb shawarma with roasted veggies and salad. My husband had the combo shawarma. We also ordered hummus. My mother in law ordered the ghallaba. The food was absolutely wonderful!! The seasoning was so good and the hummus was perfect! For desert I tried the Turkish coffee and basbousa cake. The coffee was authentic and I enjoyed the cake. We will definitely plan to come back here again when we travel this direction. The staff was very nice and helpful as well.

The chicken shawarma is absolutely amazing and their garlic sauce, I need at least a cup of that stuff. The onion rings are also some of the best and actually battered and not breaded. Soooo good. Also, don't forget desert either because they have homemade baklava and their house cake is heavenly.

Absolutely must try this place mind blowing beef kebabs. The quality of the beef is amazing and the flavor is so good. My rice, amazing and juicy not dry. My vegetables are cooked and perfection also Manger and staff are friendly and very informative. I WILL DEFINITELY BE RETURNING

The authentic Mediterranean place in Birmingham. We drove through town and looking for something flavorful and stumble upon this place. The price is incredibly inexpensive. The portions ridiculous. As we try to have a game plan to get to dessert, we couldn’t make it. The food is freshly made. Staff are friendly. You know it’s light when most people that walked in are Mediterranean.
