Maison Madeleine B&B at Lake Martin

A retreat to Maison Madeleine on the serene shores of Lake Martin is nothing short of magical. This 19th-century jewel, lovingly restored, felt like stepping into another time—where every detail speaks of care, history, and hospitality. Our deepest thanks to Walt & Madeleine, the sweetest hosts who welcomed us like family. We cherished every conversation about Cajun culture, history, and the magic of this place—it’s rare to find such warmth and passion woven into every detail.||Mornings unfolded slowly with mist rising over the Cypress Island Preserve, where graceful white herons glided above the still water, and evenings carried the scent of cypress and the hush of the bayou. There’s a quiet luxury in being surrounded by such unspoiled beauty—a place where time lingers a little longer.||A

Maison Madeleine is truly our favorite place! We can't get enough of it. Nestled in the scenic swamps of Lake Martin, this visually stunning cottage is simply picturesque. Madeleine and Walt exemplify hospitality and are among the kindest people you'll meet. We were fortunate to have our wedding here, and it was a truly magical evening! We couldn't be more grateful for the experience. We look forward to returning many more times and finally trying out a Secret Supper!

We had the most amazing time at Maison Madeleine. The house is anybody’s Louisiana dream: typical and decorated with exquisite taste. Madeleine and Walt welcomed us so warmly. Breakfast was delicious and they arranged reservations and recommanded the best activities in the region. Our kids felt at home and would not leave this magical place. Congratulations for creating such a lovely atmosphere and thank you for the beautiful family memories!

We have just spent two nights at Maison Madeleine and have had a wonderful time. The property is in a lovely location, close to the lake and is an original Acadian house set in beautiful gardens. Every convenience is provided with the room and the food at breakfast was delicious. The owners were so welcoming and a pleasure to spend time with. Walt even recorded a rugby game for my husband to watch with a beer on our return from dinner. We would highly recommend this place if you’re looking for southern hospitality in an authentic home.

I love staying at bed & breakfasts and this one is very special! Very cozy and secluded in beautiful surroundings. The guest suite is very well appointed with beautiful bedding and furniture. The breakfast was the best I've ever had at a bed & breakfast. Walt and Madeleine were wonderful hosts. I left feeling relaxed and inspired!
