Nice place, loud but trendy crowd. Very good food, the house salsa was great and the potato soup was yummy. Irish potatoes were pretty oily... other than that... good.
I was with a large group of about 24 in a separate room. There were late commers that were accommodated graciously. Our waitress was phenomenally nice and efficient. I ordered one of their specialties: Corned beef and cabbage. The portion was generous, and the cabbage and potatoes were well seasoned and tasty. The corned beef, however, I could have soled my shoe with. If I had been the chef and test tested it, I would have told everyone "we're out of that menu item" rather than serve it. I asked for a new serving, which was barely better. "Tender" was the description in the menu. Not even close.
Had a nice Sunday lunch with my mom at Maggie O'Brien's I got the Maggie Burger she got the blackened chicken salad and both work very generous portions. Ended up with leftovers to take home and my mom was able to get through her whole salad The dressing was warm Like heated warm So that was unexpected, but intentional. It tasted pretty good. I was really looking forward to the Burger I probably should have ordered just a plain burger though cuz the even though it was absolutely delicious the coleslaw kind of overpowered the flavor of the burger a little bit.
In Sunset Hills, this restaurant was originally an Irish restaurant owned by John Goodman. Under new ownership now. Great atmosphere with a friendly staff. Came here from because Helen Fitzgerald’s was closed. No regrets at all. Bartender made it a pretty heavy pour. And the salad with grilled chicken was excellent. The wings were also very good. They only came with a barbecue sauce. Not sure if other sauces are offered.
We had a large group of 28 in the party room and had made reservations well ahead of time. I had the Fighting Irish reuben, and it tasted good. The serving of corned beef was generous and tender. But the sandwich was lukewarm at best and soggy on the bottom, and my side of fries was missing. Here's why: the business assigned ONE server to our entire group. Danielle was awesome, working hard, and was doing the best she could, but come on! She didn't even have anyone helping to run the food or get drinks. It took our group 3 hours for the meal. Some were finished before others even got their food. I did get my side of hot fries after everyone at my table had finished. I'm not sure why they were not able to provide better service.
