Beautifully warm and cozy with a variety of seatings that work great for dates, friends or family meals. I love that the back room turns into a speakeasy, it def feels like one. The food was well executed with delicate yet surprisingly Cambodian flavors. Everything we ordered was excellent, my kids loved their fried rice and chicken. I want to come back and try other items on the menu, esp the curry. Loved our evening meal here. A neighborhood gem ❤️
Cannot believe this was my first time to Lula Mae! We had a lovely “family date” with my toddler and everything was perfect. Ambiance was more of a vibe than anticipated, the service was friendly and prompt, the menu was unique and flavorful and there was even a kids menu! All in all a perfect evening out; we’ll be back!
The dishes here were unfortunately mostly disappointing. The fried tofu with hot sauce tasted exactly like that— no amazing spices, no southeast Asian flavors. The salmon carpaccio was so bland, it needed some salt and citrus badly. The green beans were undercooked, which also means they don’t soak up the flavor. The fried branzino was the only dish that tasted pretty good, but don’t know what happened to all the meat on the fish as there was barely any.
Have been in search of quality Khmer food and have been looking forward to coming here for quite a while. Not gonna lie, I was a little disappointed. The tuk trey koh kong wasn't as potent as I expected it to be, but the oysters were good. The meekatang had a lot of woodear mushrooms and lacked some flavor. The wings were pretty good. Overall, it just didn't taste very authentically Khmer. 😕 Maybe I have to try it again.
Unfortunately the short rib was unavailable but overall the meal was good. Fried chicken and the duck were great mains and the morning glory was very flavorful. I think the crab fried rice was a slight miss because it lacked flavor and the fried rice noodles was interesting but definitely too saucey. Overall cute restaurant and would recommend.
