Los Cuates Mexican Restaurant & Store

We were traveling and eating out with Celiac disease is not easy. I was searching for something that would not take too long but was tried and true. Find me gluten free pulled up Los Cuates as an excellent choice. Oh my! SO Yummy!!! I ordered the fajitas with the homemade corn tortillas and because I don’t like beans, I got a double side of rice. It came out on a sizzling skillet and was absolutely delicious. The salsa is slightly spicy with fantastic flavor. The chips are also their homemade corn tortilla chips made in a dedicated fryer. The fresh guacamole is absolutely delicious. My husband, who does not have to be gluten-free, ordered the churro Pollo and was delighted. There were leftovers. The portions are generous. Pros:Homemade corn tortillas, food was great, Service was top-notch from my waitress. Definitely stopping by next time. Cons: The AC needs to be upgraded it's hot inside and the kitchen exhaust needs a new one and the chips are way too greasy at times.

I'm giving 2 stars because the staff was friendly and attentive. We stopped here because there was some great reviews and a couple mentioned it was GF friendly and even mentioned a separate fryer. This was not the case. They don't have a separate fryer. The girl that spoke English clearly didn't even really comprehend what GF was. However, after we explained a little, they did offer to cook corn tortillas in a skillet. We debated leaving but we were hungry and sometimes these little hole-in-the-wall places are the best so we gave it a chance. If you order water, they only serve bottled water with cups of ice. My cup was dirty and another cup was cracked. The GF orders were 2 asada, 1 chorizo and 1 carnitas tacos. The non GF order was cheese and chicken nachos. All the reviews mentione

I can’t remember what it was called but I had this dish that was basically mushrooms and other veggies on fried masa and it was delicious. I was looking to try something new and choose this restaurant because the menu featured items I don’t see at every Mexican restaurant. I also had their watermelon water and that was nice and refreshing. Great service as well.
