Legal Sea Foods is such a solid go-to in Boston, whether you’re stopping in for a full meal or just swinging by for happy hour. Classic, reliable, and always hits the spot. Their lobster roll is hands down one of the best — loaded with fresh lobster, perfectly dressed, and simply delicious. The clam chowder is rich, ultra-creamy, and packed with clams in every bite (exactly how New England chowder should be). Today I tried the haddock, and wow. The portion was huge — easily close to ¾ of a pound. Perfectly grilled with seasoned breadcrumbs on top, flavorful, tender, and cooked just right. For dessert, I went with a lobster tail. Loved the overall experience — super flaky and crispy on the outside. The shell was a bit thicker than expected, but still had that signature crunch, with a cre
Came up from Georgia to see family. Decided to have a late lunch here with my mother. We got the fisherman's platter to share. There was more than enough food! We had to sit at a counterheight table as the only available regular height was right by the door. It was too cold for my elderly mother. They do not have very many tables that can accommodate a handicapped person. She did ok with the countertop but I could tell she wasn't comfortable. Service was ok, it felt rushed and not very friendly. I chalked it up to it being Boston and I am used to the South. The food was good. I would go again next time I am in the area.
9/30, It was a Tuesday, I got emails for the $1 oyster, also saw the Tuesday $1 Oyster sign at the front entrance. Of course, I would go for the oyster! I told the waitress that we are coming solely for the oysters, as we already had supper. We ordered two dozen oysters first, along with other food items. When we're done, we were asked if we would like the check, but since the oyster was fresh, I ordered one dozen more. All this time, the waitress knowingly not mentioned to me that it is not $1 oyster yet 😮💨. And of course, my oyster bill was 3.5 times then I was expecting 😤! I give her the regular 18% tips, as it was part of my fault of not reading the fine print. But I thought I should let Google review knows my experience.
Stopped in here for lunch in July 2025. If you are not from Boston area you definitely want to take in Legal Sea Food. It is a fixture and a good eating. This was in Dedham. Please note, it was scheduled for renovation after July 2025 so may or may not be the same as when I visited. The food is predictably good. Service appropriate for the flair. It exceeded expectations and I do always enjoy eating at Legal. I would recommend this as a place to try. This Dedham location is a in an open air mall and nicely configured. Parking is available in the ramp or surface. Surface spaces are challenging during rush periods. The other Legal Sea Food locations could be a tourist trap so can be very busy. This location wasn't busy and was able to be sat right away. Definitely will revisit.
On this visit I had quite a few things outside my usual fare at Legal's I had two Sushi rolls 8pc each, The Red Dragon Roll and The Firecracker roll. Paired with a 9oz glass of Mountain Cuvee. For dessert I tried their lobster tail*, with coffee, but the star in my opinion was the coffee. Better than I was expecting. *Side note on the dessert it didn't detract from my overall experience. it wasn't bad but, I dont recommend it. The lobster tail ( dessert) its a creme filled puffed pastry with strawberries. It was hard to chew, hard on my teeth. I had it in my mind that the dessert was supposed to be similar raspberry turnover or a Pillsbury biscuit in that it might be soft, crispy and flaky. Instead, the mouthfeel had a pasta that didn't finish cooking or the burnt crust of a pie feel
