Le Diplomate

We had a wonderful evening at Le Diplomate during our one-month trip to the U.S. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for the holidays, which made the atmosphere feel especially festive and charming. We started with the escargot, followed by the steak frites and duck confit, and finished with the profiterole for dessert. Everything was excellent and very satisfying. Our server also recommended two cocktails, which we both enjoyed. The food, service, and ambiance all came together to create a memorable night. It was definitely one of the highlights of our dining experiences during our trip. Highly recommend if you’re visiting Washington, DC.

Very nice French restaurant with a good selection and very nice atmosphere! Ordered the beef bourguignon and American burger, and enjoyed both. The beef bourguignon was very rich, and the buttered mashed potatoes were so velvety. The American burger was very filling, the quality of beef seems better than a normal burger. Toppings on the burger were pickles, onions, and cheese. If you’re not a fan of raw onions, I’d recommend to ask them not to put them on. The fries with the burger were sooo good and crispy! The bread basket was good, a nice selection of sourdough and classic French baguette. The whipped butter didn’t have much flavor. Overall the service was great, and the food came out quickly as well! It was a classic, charming and lively Parisienne restaurant with beautiful and vibrant decor. The service was attentive and the food was absolutely delicious and memorable. The Steak Frites was perfectly seared and tender with rich and savory herb butter and the fries were crispy and tasty. The one pot chocolate was creamy and rich with just the amount of sweetness. They also have a good selection of delicious cocktails and wine for me to complement my meal 👍

The whole experience was stellar. Pablo was our server, and it was truly the best service we’ve had in Washington. He was knowledgeable about the menu, offered fantastic recommendations, and made our dining experience feel really special. He was attentive and quick to take care of anything we needed. We ordered the steak frites, onion soup, and steak tartare, and every dish was absolutely delicious. I would definitely come back here the next time I’m in Washington.

Everything about this restaurant was amazing and worth the reservation. That great customer service, the atmosphere is beautiful along with the lighting. I did the onion soup, which was amazing, the radish salad was better than the fig salad, my steak was outstanding, I got the Demi sauce on the side, which worked out perfectly, my spinach was delicious, and also ordered crème brûlée. Definitely say yes to the bread that is freshly cut per table at the beginning of your meal, it was phenomenal. My friend got scallops and he said they were amazing.
