Little man had a game and afterward we stopped at Lauer Krauts. They seem to do a few things very well and the menu reflects it. As we sat waiting for the food, it sort of felt like sitting in someone's dining room. Definitely a family feel! My Bride and I did not split like usual; I ordered a Kraut burger with potato chips and a drink, she and little man got the cheesy vegetable soup with theirs. Man, did I miss out. That soup was fabulous! The Kraut burgers were delicious too! Then, we three way split the German Chocolate Brownie. Oh boy! You are missing out if you don't grab one. Prices were very reasonable too. We had no idea we had been this close to deliciousness and never stopped in. We want to come back to try "Breakfast in Bread"!
I would say pretty amazing. Probably worth driving a bit out of your way. Two ladies who liked pickles were in. And they gave them 2 each. Friendly service. Krautburger is a treat, warm bread, with a mix of burger and onions. Soup is amazing . Definitely a drop.in of your in the area. Probably worth hoping off the highway for a quick lunch.
Hadn't heard of it before (not being local). Recommended by a friend. Menu was LIMITED but the food was VERY good, and for a very reasonable PRICE. The Staff was quite engaging, as I listened to them answering questions about their reputation, having been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.
TLDR: Great little burger spot that serves excellent handmade stuffed breads. Try the honey mustard! House turned restaurant. We have never heard of it but apparently its been on Diner's, Drive-in's, and Dives 3 times! Family owned business that serves simple yet delicious breads stuffed with meat, onion, cabbage, and Kraut. You can taste the love that the family has for their craft. You truly feel like a guest at someone's home. We got the original lauer-kraut burger, but they have a variety of different cheeses you can add on. My one gripe that I have is that the filling was a tad salty, but dont let that discourage you from trying this place out, it was fantastic! And dont forget the homemade honey mustard! I couldnt put it down. Highly highly recommend this little gem.
I think I'm about 20 years later to the party, but still happy. Looked up cheap eats nearby. Walked in. Very warm and informative greeting. Ate something yummy and took yummy things with me for later. Many long term customers coming in while I was there. You know it's good. If I lived in Brighton it's possible I would eat hear everyday!
