Larive Lake Resort

Now called "Hidden Lake" campground, run by a hard-working young family. Exemplary customer service skills from the wife, who runs the office, and a youngster ready to help you navigate your spot! Even had a quality craft beer (DeSchuettes) for sale, to save a trip to town. We are sooooo glad we picked Hot Springs over the smaller Black Hills towns ... not so touristy, yet eager to please. Unfortunately, most of the restaurants seem to have closed, post-Labor Day, but those that are open are fine and appreciate the business (Upper Crust, e.g.). This campground was perfectly located to enjoy all the history and geo attractions of the area, yet quiet and homey at the end of the day. Back-in site 13 is especially nice ... an end spot with a great tree for shade.

Larvie Lake Resort is now Hidden Lake Camp. It has reopened the summer of 2019 and it's run by very kind Christi and her wonderful family. It is a very very pleasent and calm medium size camping with their very own lake. I got a very nice spot. Got to swim in the lake right before breakfast! The bathrooms are clean and just painted. There is a laundry room. There are many things to do around here: we went to Evan's Plunge (a few minutes walk and a 2 min drive) and had lots of fun in the indoor and outdoor mineral hot water pools! And we visited Custer Park and Mt Rushmore.
